Serving Our Community

Through the work of OasisUxbridge and other agencies at St Margaret's

St Margaret’s Church remains committed to serving our community in whatever way possible.  A programme of services and events are published each week on the homepage of our website and in the parish bulletin sheet. We would encourage you to take a look at these and join us  in church or online when you can.

We would like to encourage people to commit to “Call a Friend” – people you know in the congregation and in the community – especially those who are alone at this time or reluctant to venture out.

We are very aware that many people are facing very real challenges at this time and that the need for Foodbank help is rapidly increasing. Hillingdon Foodbank remains open and can be contacted on https://hillingdon.foodbank.org.uk. Their telephone number is 01895 252224. The Foodbank warehouse is at 30 Oxford Rd, Denham, UB9 4DQ.

In these challenging times, if you would value someone to talk to, or a listening ear, please do not hesitate to contact us via the parish office.

St Margaret’s Church remains committed to serving our community in whatever way possible. It is with regret that we have not been able to reopen the Oasis Coffee Shop in these current times. However, we are open 11am – 12.30pm on Wednesdays and warmly welcome any who would like to drop in for a chat, to seek help, to light a candle or to pray. We would also warmly welcome you to join us on Sundays.

Our bereavement drop in group, Footprints, has restarted with limited numbers on Mondays. This is dependant on the most up-to-date Covid guidance and therefore if you would like to join us we would ask you to contact the parish office in advance.

We are very aware that many people are facing very real challenges at this time and that the need for Foodbank help is rapidly increasing. We are hoping to be able to help with this shortly, but in the meantime Hillingdon Foodbank remains open and can be contacted on https://hillingdon.foodbank.org.uk. Their telephone number is 01895 252224. The Foodbank warehouse is at 30 Oxford Rd, Denham, UB9 4DQ.

In these challenging times, if you would value someone to talk to, or a listening ear, please do not hesitate to contact us via the parish office.

In light of the Government guidance around non-essential contact, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued advice that public worship is suspended until further notice. Therefore it is with regret that all services across the Uxbridge Parish have been suspended, as have our Oasis Coffee Shop and many of our groups serving the community. However we are looking at ways to open the church building so that people can visit to pray and reflect quietly and different ways to stay in touch with and continue to serve the community.

Foodbank at St Margaret’s is suspended. Following the government directives on Stay Home Save Lives, the Hillingdon Foodbank warehouse (based 30 Oxford Rd, Denham, UB9 4DQ) will no longer be receiving anyone at the warehouse. With the help of their volunteer drivers, they will be making food deliveries to people’s doorsteps. To find out how you access the Hillingdon Foodbank during the lockdown please read the information below on the community noticeboard. Thank you.

A Message from Hillingdon Foodbank

To access food at the Hillingdon Foodbank:

If you have a food voucher, take a picture of it and email it to hillingdonfoodbank@kingsborough.org.uk. or inform your case worker, organisation or council you are registered with to send a referral email to hillingdonfoodbank@kingsborough.org.uk. The email must include your name, address and telephone number. It must also include the number of family members and the ages of any children. Lastly, the email should state why you are being referred to the Foodbank.

Due to the ongoing effect of the covid virus situation, last week saw the number of people requiring help nearly treble. Over 150 people were helped, many of them families, with food aid, usually it is 50/70. 2500kg of donated food was distributed last week alone which has resulted in low to no stock in the warehouse.
Foodbank is now appealing for people to donate food, however small, when they shop in their supermarkets to ease the situation. People can also take their donations to the Foodbank Warehouse, 30 Oxford Road, UB9 4DQ.
